- "Creativity Takes Courage"- From the Ted Talk video: meaning that in order for children to be creative they need courage to put their ideas out there, so they are not shy or embarrassed.
- Gallery Walk- Students exploring other's work by walking around the room.
- Curriculum Integration- Using one subject in a different subject area. Examples: Art & Math, or Science & Art
My Rock Paintings:
- How did this activity you attended make you feel?
- I really enjoyed completing this rock painting activity. I thought it was a relaxing way to really be creative with decorating thinking in terms of what the rock is shaped as and the blank, bare canvas it is. I liked trying to complete the three guidelines provided as they really made me think outside the box. I also enjoyed viewing the different ways we can integrate rock art in other subjects. Like the sight word rock hunt or the addition problem rocks.
- Following this activity, have you come up with any new, similar, or creative ideas for your future classroom?
- Aside from the fun examples shown in the PowerPoint, other cute rock painting activities I thought of were, if we were doing a lesson on outer space, the students could create their own planet on the rock and name it. Then share with the class their creation and include learned space vocabulary such as how many moons it has or is it made or rock or gas. Another idea could be for during the first days of school the students could paint their favorite food on the rock and share with the class or find other people who enjoy the same food. Any little way to change it up and do a different activity rather than pencil and paper helps the students get excited and break up their day.

I totally agree with the rock outer space idea! I feel like it's a great way to show students space and help them better understand each planet. I really liked your suggestion of a favorite food because I painted my favorite vegetable and the preschoolers were able to make a connection instantly and it helped open up a conversation with them.
ReplyDeleteI like your ideas for describing rocks(like from outside the planet earth), keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteI loved so much to reading this part!
