Week 4: Reflection
Important Words & Concepts/Definitions:
- Music in the Classroom- Allows students to be creative and provide brain breaks, also a good transition tool.
Weekly Recap:
- This week we learned why music is so important in the classroom. We learned how it can be used as a transition and get the kids focused when switching activities. We also did a gallery walk seeing how our classmates would use music in their future classroom.
My Group's Musical Classroom:
- Our group decided to make a big rug where students can explore instruments on their own. Then in the bottom right we have an area where students can make music with their friends. The top right has an area where students can explore instruments from around the world. Finally, the top left has an area with electronics and headphones for students to listen or record their own music.
My Story Timeline:
- This was my rough story map of events that happened in the story we watched in class.
Reflection Questions:
- In what ways did today's activities affect you?
- Completing the musical classroom activity really made me reconsider what ways I can use music in my classroom. I now want to have instruments in my classroom and not just play music from YouTube. I also want to include instruments from other countries, so students can explore them.
- In what ways could today’s activities be incorporated into the curriculum to teach different subjects?
- You can incorporate instruments from another country into a Social Studies lesson about that country. The students can learn about another part of the world and then be able to try out and explore instruments from that part of the world. Another incorporation is in Science you can have the students make a hypothesis on how the instrument works or how to make it louder/quieter and then have them test it out.

Hi! I love how your group made an area for children to be able to explore music on their own! It is a really great idea.

DeleteYeah, I also wanted to incorporate musical instruments in this session but had limited access to bringing them into our classroom. But I am glad to hear your idea that you would connect the musical instrument with a social studies lesson. That would be wonderful!
