Week 6: Reflection
My Food Art:
- For my food art, I created a Caterpillar! I used Ritz crackers with peanut butter for the body, M&M's for the eyes, pretzels for the antenna & legs, and Froot Loops as some spots.
Food Art Reflection Questions:
- How might these types of activities affect the development of children?
- This activity allows children to get creative and think outside of the box to creative whatever they can imagine using the provided food materials. It affects their physical development because they get to explore touching new textures of food. It also affects their emotional development because they will be excited to use food as material for making art, they also might be interested in seeing what their classmates make.
- In what ways could today's activites be incorporated into the curriculum to teach different subjects?
- You could incoporate food art into many subjects. You could use Froot Loops in Math to have a concrete material to practice simple adding and subtracting. You could also use them to teach sorting and patterns with the colors. You could also use different textured food in Science to practice making observations like is this food hard or squishy? salty or sweet?
My Trip To The Maltby Center Art Gallery:
Art Gallery Reflection:
- Which artist's caught your attention the most? Also describe the artwork.
- The artwork by Katherine Mickle caught my attention the most. This is realistic artwork of a tree full of greenery, but when you look at it from a different angle, the tree has no leaves and the ground is brown. I thought this was super unique and I want to know the materials used by the artist to create the effect.

Great presentation! I got to say, that tree was pretty cool when it is 3D and changes to 2 seasons.
