Week 10: Reflection
My AI Assisted Story Book:
Refelction Questions:
- Compare your experience: creating a story on your own VS. using AI to assist.
- When writing my own story, I was able to come up with a baseline idea rather quickly, however in the 10 minutes we had to write it, I was only able to get through introducing the characters and the first major event. Writing this story completely on my own would have taken a super long time. Using the AI to assist was a huge help because I was able to ask it to write a story with the baseline idea I came up with and it wrote the entire story within a minute. I was then able to go through and put my own touch on the story Chat GPT wrote with my idea.
- How can you use these AI programs effectively, efficiently, and meaningfully in school settings as a teacher?
- As a teacher you can use these programs in a similar way, we did with this story project. Say if you are planning a lesson and want to pair a book with it, but you cannot find one what you like. You could come up with the baseline idea, ask Chat GPT to write it, and finally go through to put your own touch on the story Chat GPT wrote. You can also do it to help come up with ideas and lesson plans based on your baseline ideas. The AI is a good tool to help get you thinking and create portions of materials for you as the teacher to add personal touches to help the students learn more effectively and efficiently.
- Considering the ethical implications of AI programs, what is the best way for a college student & a good citizen to utilize them?
- The best ways to use an AI program is for ideas and inspiration. Maybe generate an example to jumpstart your own thinking. I would say to always make sure if you are using the AI programs to always give credit to it & tell what you used it for, like we did on the story project. I feel it would be very easy for someone to try and use the AI to complete an entire project which would be unethical and considered plagiarism. So, it seems important to me to cite when an AI is used.

Good job Logan, i agree with many of your good comments
